Need a heartbreaking backstory for a new TTRPG character? You’re in luck! Welcome to Dice Company’s Tragic Backstory Generator.
All you need is a D10 and a hankering to play a character with a troubled past. Like all our TTRPG tools, our system uses no AI whatsoever (there’s nothing artificial and – as you’ll see – very little intelligence was used).
The Tragic Backstory Generator works like this: roll three D10s – one for your charcter’s age when tragedy struck, one for a beloved person in their life, and one for what ate that person. Here we go…

And there you have it! In less than a minute, you have a tragic backstory to motivate your character, explain their terrible decisions and/or give them something to talk about in the tavern.
